Rahm cruises with hero's help, Golf News & Top Stories

Jon Rahm shot a seven-under 65 in the final round of the 18-man Hero World Challenge to sign for a 268 total and a four-stroke victory on Sunday

Jon Rahm shot a seven-under 65 in the final round of the 18-man Hero World Challenge to sign for a 268 total and a four-stroke victory on Sunday

Anyway, more unedifying about the Hero World Challenge was that the victor, Spaniard Jon Rahm, picked up the same World Ranking points - 48 - as the victor of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open and Dubai Desert
Classic.

Finau did manage to make an impact elsewhere, however, by closing his round with a 10-foot birdie that would see him finish alone in second and consequently prevent Justin Rose from returning to the World No.1 spot.

Rose, who eagled 15 in a last round 65, had been sharing second place in 15-under par and the assurance of again becoming World No. 1 only for Finau to pull the rug out from under the Englishman. And because I'm not the best putter on Bermuda grass, I said, "hey, Tiger can you please teach me how to putt on Bermuda? I just can't putt on Bermuda as I had grown up in Spain on poa annua", said Rahm.

"That Sunday is one of the most emotional, most important moments in my golf career", he said. He kind of laughed and said, 'It's all about feel out there'.

Swede Stenson faded with a 71 to finish six shots back in fourth place in the elite 18-man field.

Defending champion Rickie Fowler (69) and Patrick Cantlay (64) were Tied-fifth, while tournament host Tiger Woods (73) was 17th out of 18 players. "A couple of months later to win his event - his Foundation's event along with Hero, this is really special".

"It was an incredible year, to go from where I was at this point last year to where I am now", he said.

"To come from where I came from a year ago at this point to have the ability to actually play and compete again in the game and do it consistently is quite awesome".

Woods said his desire was as strong as ever but acknowledged that his middle-aged and much-operated-on body was not able to do all the things his younger self could.

"I can say that ball-strikingwise it's pretty much where I want it to be", Rahm told Golf Channel.

"That's just part of the injuries I've had and the ageing process and trying to deal with that and compete".

Though his playing is done for the year, Woods can not relax just yet.
