Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films have released a brand new clip from James Wan's highly-anticipated superhero epic Aquaman, featuring Amber Heard's Mera trying to convince Arthur Curry that he should fight for his right for the King of Atlantis as the true heir to the throne. The DCEU did make incredible money off Suicide Squad, Batman V Superman, and Wonder Woman, but Man of Steel and Justice League didn't do as well. Considering Wonder Woman's box office (and pop cultural) performance, however, and how it potentially compares to Aquaman's, chances are pretty good that the guy who can talk to fish will be doing more fish-talking in a future film.

An anecdote from Aquaman actress Amber Heard about her co-star Jason Momoa's behaviour on set has some fans seeing red. The movie is based on characters from DC's Aquaman created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger.

Tracking estimates show that Aquaman is expected to make $65 million for its United States opening later this month, beating Mary Poppins Returns and the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee, which open at the same time.

Fight for the Throne in New Aquaman Clip

Wan's superstition is perhaps warranted in a Hollywood where franchises can crumble quickly, but for now Aquaman is looking more and more like a safe bet for Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich enough confidence to begin talks on a sequel (though no writer has been commissioned yet).

Are you excited for a potential Aquaman sequel?
