Inspired by the likes of Monster Hunter, Dark Souls and World of Warcraft, Dauntless sees players assuming the role of "Slayers" who are tasked with hunting and killing monsters known as "Behemoths". Dauntless will first arrive on PS4 and Xbox One in April 2019 before later arriving on Switch and mobile devices later in the year.

Canadian studio Phoenix Labs has revealed that their free-to-play action RPG Dauntless - released on PC back in April this year - will soon be making its way to consoles.

Phoenix Labs - which has former Riot Games, BioWare, Blizzard Entertainment and Capcom staffers in its ranks - originally intended the game to be exclusive to computers but has confirmed that it will also be coming to the PS4, Xbox One, Switch and smart devices.

Not only will bringing Dauntless to new platforms help expand the game's audience, but it's also part of Phoenix Labs' One Dauntless initiative.

"While expanding to new platforms, the Dauntless gameplay experience also continues to grow and evolve".

A new trailer for the game was shown at the Game Awards, along with release plans.

Lastly, the latest expansion for Dauntless, Frostfall, has also launched on PC now. This includes customisations and purchased items as well.

"At Phoenix Labs we define ourselves through a transparent development relationship with our community and strong focus on inclusivity, both at the studio and in our game", said the studio's co-founder and CEO Jesse Houston.
