It also seems to feature companions and first-person shooter combat that again doesn't seem all that dissimilar to Fallout.

The annual Game Awards kicked off last night, and it's safe to say that 2019 is looking to be a pretty big year for the industry.

Published by Private Division, The Outer Worlds will presumably be Obsidian's final multiplatform title before they move to Xbox One and PC development only. "It affects everything in the game - the setting, the characters, the dialogs".

At The Game Awards, Obsidian announced their newest game: The Outer Worlds. Set in a quirky sci-fi universe filled to the brim with humor, attractive vistas, and unsafe aliens, the game manages to blend elements of Fallout, Mass Effect, and even Bioshock into one package. The Outer Worlds doesn't have an indie budget like Pillars of Eternity, nor does it have the scope of an AAA game like Fallout: New Vegas-it's somewhere in the middle.

The game is not an open-world RPG, but rather a series of interconnected, smaller worlds and locations.

With a retro-sci-fi vibe and a wonderful Western colour palette, The Outer Worlds looks to continue Obsidian's strong tradition of delivering dense RPGs.

In it, you play as a colonist taking on megacorps... or not. In case you weren't aware, The Outer Worlds comes from the original creators of Fallout, Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky. Will you be getting this when it launches next year?

Bethesda has yet another new rival as the makers of Fallout: New Vegas reveal the first trailer for their new sci-fi game.
