Epic only takes a 12 per cent cut of sales from its store compared to Valve's outfit, which nabs 30 per cent.

That said, The Division 2 PC's price in India is $42 (close to Rs. 2,960) on the Epic Games Store, making on par with recent Ubisoft releases on Steam like Assassin's Creed Odyssey (although that along with Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2 launched at Rs. 3,499 on Steam). Now, everyone on PC will be able to pre-order the upcoming MMO on either Ubisoft's or Epic's service.

Updated: Ubisoft's "The Division" franchise appears to be ditching Steam on PC.

'As long-time fans and partners of Ubisoft, we're thrilled to bring a range of awesome Ubisoft games to the Epic Games store, ' crows Tim Sweeney, founder and chief executive of Epic Games, in his announcement of the deal. It will also be available for purchase through Ubisoft's own storefront. Although the game had a product info page on Steam - and its predecessor is sold there as well - a Ubisoft representative told Variety it has no plans to release "The Division 2" on Valve's storefront.

The Division 2 will launch on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on March 15th.

In fact, Ubisoft continuously released new content for the game over the course of three years, building a powerful and eager community. Speaking with Polygon via email after the announcement, a Ubisoft representative said the following: "We have no plans now on releasing Tom Clancy's The Division 2 on Steam". They will reveal more details later this year.

In a press release, Epic and Ubisoft say that the Standard, Gold, and Ultimate versions of the game will all be available, and will guarantee access to the game's private beta. Epic said it will "work to integrate key components of Ubisoft's Uplay and Epic's online services to provide gamers from both ecosystems with more seamless social features and interoperability". Ubisoft fully supports Epic and their third-party distribution model, which is in the long-term, beneficial for publishers both large and indie and the video games industry.
