Fringe, Heroes, Without a Trace, and The Bachelor make up some of Freedive's current television offerings.

Amazon Prime Video which is locked in an intense competition against Netflix and Star India owned Hotstar, off-late has also build its film library by acquiring some of the latest films such as Thugs of Hindostan.

IMDb (www.imdb.com), the #1 movie website in the world, today announced the launch of IMDb Freedive (www.imdb.com/freedive), a free streaming video channel available in the United States on the IMDb website via laptop or personal computer and on all Amazon Fire TV devices. Unlike some services though, this one's free (thanks to the ads!) to stream.

IMDb, which has proven over the years to know a thing or two about movies, is getting into the business of streaming them, along with TV shows, via a new service from the Amazon-owned company called Freedive. The content joins IMDb's existing short-form original videos like The IMDb Show and No Small Parts.

You can check out IMDb Freedive here. IMDb believes it can capture share in the market because its has millions of visitors who are actively interested in entertainment.

The IMDb Freedive catalog will continue to evolve, with new titles added regularly.

"With the launch of IMDb Freedive, they can now also watch full-length movies and TV shows on IMDb and all Amazon Fire TV devices for free", IMDb Chief Executive Col Needham said in a statement.

Though Freedive is pretty limited at the moment with only computer and Fire TV support, IMDb says it plans to expand its availability to other platforms in the future, including the IMDb mobile apps.

IMDb claims it has 250 million unique visitors a month looking up information about more than five million movies and shows.
