Zac Taylor'preferred choice for Bengals next head coach

Here is the latest news and rumors concerning coaching vacancies in the NFL. The Cardinals hired Kingsbury, and now it looks like the Bengals are primed to hire a direct understudy of the Rams head coach.

Prior to coaching the quarterbacks this season, the 35-year-old Taylor was the Rams' assistant wide receivers coach in 2017.

Taylor was the University of Cincinnati offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2016. Dolphins associate head coach Darren Rizzi is also interviewing for the job. In 2018, Jared Goff was an MVP candidate for parts of the season, and the Rams are now still alive in the playoffs and are preparing to take on the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night.

Teams can't hire coaches from playoff teams until their teams are eliminated.

Taylor is the team's first choice, ESPN reported Thursday evening, and management hopes to hire him as soon as the 13-3 Rams end their season. His daughter Katie Blackburn was reportedly very involved in the hiring process. If Taylor is anything close to Mcvay, he is going to make Bengals fans very happy.
