Arsenal manager Unai Emery admits the club can only afford to sign players on loan during the January transfer window - but insists he will be happy with his squad if the Gunners fail to add any new faces.

Arsenal supporters are excited about the prospect of signing Denis Suarez from FC Barcelona this month.

Suarez has struggled for regular playing time at Barcelona this season and is expected to move in the ongoing transfer window.

"We can not sign anyone permanently", Emery said ahead of Arsenal's game against West Ham on Saturday. I know these players and they are very good players.

He added: "We are working with the players who are with us now. But we can only sign on a loan and I know the club is working for the possibility of players who can help us with this condition".

The north London club, who have missed out on top-four finishes and Champions League qualification in the previous two seasons, are fifth in the table with 41 points, but Emery said fans could not expect permanent recruits in January.

Emery was non-committal when asked about his former player in his press conference on Thursday.

Emery spent £70m on transfers last summer, signing Lucas Torreira and Bernd Leno on permanent deals, but said he will not be able to spend in the transfer window this month.

Another player who played under Emery at Sevilla, Ever Banega, has also been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Suarez's arrival may also help offset the summer departure of Aaron Ramsey, with the Wales global having agreed terms with Serie A champions Juventus ahead of a free transfer at the end of the season.

"I want his behaviour and his focus to be on West Ham on Saturday". Every day he's here with us, he's working very well.
