After receiving flak for his sexist remarks on Karan Johar's chat show Hardik Pandya issues an apology- read tweet

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul have been suspended pending an inquiry into comments they made about women on a television show this week, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Friday.

A BCCI source also reported that the officials were contemplating barring the players to participate in shows that have got nothing to do with cricket, henceforth. Very crass. No apology can cover it. "I'm little from the Black side so I need to see how they move", responded Pandya.

Rai asked Johri to draft an appropriate instruction on Thursday since the players had sent their explanation. "Separately, please prepare an advisory to all BCCI contracted players and support staff".

But the response has not gone down well with CoA chief Vinod Rai. "They have been given 24 hours to give an explanation", Chairman of the CoA Vinod Rai told PTI on Wednesday.

The latest episode of Koffee with Karan featured sportspersons Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul as guests, in a first for the popular celebrity talk show.

He was slammed for his comments objectifying women when the host questioned him about his personal life, he revealed how his family were cool when it came to discussing his sex life openly.

Pandya is now with the Indian team in Australia and his response to a show cause notice, released to a section of the media in Sydney, spoke of regrets. Hardik said, "After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologize to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. I made these statements in the flow of the show and had not comprehended the extent to which my statements would be found offensive". Pandya opened up about his partying habits where he boasted about things like not asking the names of women at parties and watching them move on the dance among others. Honestly, I got a bit carried away by the nature of the show. "Upon realisation of my mistake I have also issued a public apology on my official social media handles this morning, prior to receiving the Notice", he said.

Meanwhile, as per the reports on Times of India, COA member Diana Edulji is not happy with the apology but wants Pandya and Rahul to be banned for their actions on the show.

Hardik Pandya responded to CoA's show cause notice.

". the sheer disrespect and sexist way these guys discussed women and relationships made me cringe", was one response on Twitter.
