(Washington Examiner) Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's campaign was fined $1,500 by NY for failing to provide workers' compensation coverage for a month in early 2018.

And one House Democrat, who shares Ocasio-Cortez's progressive ideology added: "She needs to decide: Does she want to be an effective legislator or just continue being a Twitter star?" "The so-called champion of workers, when given her own responsibility, is not following the law".

GOP spokeswoman Jessica Proud called the news "hypocrisy at its finest".

Technically, it's the same political party, but a newer swath of lawmakers are filling seats in the Capitol, including Ocasio-Cortez, a freshman already making ripples in her first week.

So it's no surprise the man who left the party to become an "independent" has thoughts on newly elected liberal Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The 29-year-old freshman congresswoman - who was sworn in last week as the youngest congresswoman in US history - has been making waves with much of her social media presence ever since winning the Democratic primary last year.

Additionally, Ocasio-Cortez accused: President Trump "he has a proven track record of discrimination against anybody who's really non-white in the United States" predating his 2016 election to the White House.

Ocasio-Cortez parried back: "To quote Alan Moore: 'None of you understand". I say, 'OK, this was clumsy.' and then I restate what my point was.

Velázquez told Politico that the two shared a "long, long conversation" about the dynamics of Congress and Washington, and how there shouldn't be a "litmus test" for each district, and advised Ocasio-Cortez to think twice before backing primary challenges against her colleagues. "My life, and just the campaign's life, changed overnight", she said during an interview.
