Rob Gronkowski is strongly considering retirement after the postseason

That's reportedly on tap to happen again, but this time, he might actually retire.

After contemplating hanging up his football gear during the 2017 offseason, it appears that New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will consider retirement again this offseason.

Rapoport reported sources close to Gronkowski believe his decision this time "will go the other way". An NBC Sports Boston report a year ago said Gronkowski thought about retiring before the 2017 season even began.

Rapoport added that while Gronkowski has physically made it through the season, he's struggled with the emotional part of the game. Rappoport says this information came from people close to the tight end. "Just 29 years old and financially set, Gronkowski almost retired last season rather than be traded to the Lions and finish his career elsewhere".

The 29-year-old had his worst statistical season since his rookie year in 2018, catching just three touchdowns for 682 yards in 13 games. "They wonder how much he loves it".

Gronkowski and the Patriots will host the Chargers in the AFC divisional round Sunday afternoon.

Gronkowski did not catch a pass in the first half against the Los Angeles Chargers, but he was an absolute beast in the running game.
