Trump Condemns Attack on Jussie Smollett

"That I can tell you is disgusting", Trump said.

On Wednesday, evening, Chicago police released images of two individuals walking on New Street near where the alleged encounter happened between 1:30 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning, although they were unable to identify the people in the video.

Smollett, who is black and gay and plays the gay character Jamal Lyon on the hit Fox television show, said the men beat him, subjected him to racist and homophobic insults, threw an "unknown chemical substance" on him and put a thin rope around his neck before fleeing.

Police told ABC News that Smollett was seen on camera walking into an apartment with a rope around his neck and "wearing it like a necktie" before calling cops from inside the building.

Brandon Z. Moore, Smollett's music manager, said he heard some of the attack while on the phone with Smollett, according to Variety. But when detectives followed up with Smollett later on Tuesday, he recalled the offenders making those comments, and detectives completed a supplemental report. "I heard the scuffle and I heard the racial slur".

President Donald Trump told reporters that the attack this week on "Empire" star Jussie Smollett was "horrible" and "doesn't get worse". Smollett said the attackers used the n-word and "faggot", place a noose around his neck, and poured bleach on him. MAGA stands for Make America Great Again, President Trump's campaign slogan. Guglielmi stressed that the people are not considered suspects and that police want to question them because they were in the vicinity and might have information that could be useful to the investigation.

When police arrived, Smollett had cuts and wounds and still had the noose around his neck.

"We haven't seen anybody, at this point, matching the description he gave".

The camera did not capture the attack itself, but police said that they are still reviewing camera footage from the area. Smollett has not spoken publicly about the attack, but his representative told The Associated Press on Wednesday night that the actor "is at home and recovering".
