Italian midfielder Marco Verratti could be ruled out of the first leg of Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League knockout stage match against Manchester United after picking up a new injury.

The Italy global did not feature during the extra time victory at Groupama Stadium, despite having been back in training after a recent sprained left ankle since the beginning of the week, and the source explained that Verratti was out on the pitch again on Thursday.

Marco Verratti injured his ankle last month and initial reports claimed that the midfielder could miss the game vs Man United but then he went on to make a quick recovery.

Tuchel had hinted at bad news in Lyon, but his ability to train the next day means that there is hope that he could feature against Bordeaux in Ligue 1 this weekend and away at Manchester United in the Champions League last 16 next week.

But Tuchel confirmed on Wednesday that the 26-year-old had encountered a fresh injury and could not finish training. He had problems, ' Tuchel said.

"I don't want him to take on Neymar's responsibilities of providing assists and keeping possession in the last few yards".

With both Neymar and Verratti missing at Old Trafford, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his players will know PSG have a fleshy underbelly capable of being exploited. We will wait for training on Friday to see if they will play on Saturday.
