Former Colts and Lions coach Jim Caldwell has been hired by new Dolphins coach Brian Flores as assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach. Days later, Flores and the Dolphins announced a series of assistant coaching hires. Chad O'Shea, now the Dolphins' offensive coordinator, was the Patriots' receivers coach.

The 37-year-old had spent his entire coaching career with the Pats and played an instrumental part in holding the Los Angeles Rams to just three points in New England's Super Bowl LIII win last Sunday.

Josh Boyer, who's been the Patriots' cornerbacks coach for the past seven seasons and was a member of Bill Belichick's coaching staff since 2006, has been hired in Miami to be the Dolphins' defensive pass game coordinator/cornerbacks coach. He became the Dolphins' coach on Monday.

O'Shea, Boyer and Schuplinski worked for the Patriots this past season. Caldwell returns to the National Football League after sitting out the 2018 season.

Boyer had been with the Patriots for 13 years. most recently as cornerbacks coach (2012-18). Coaching assistant DeMarcus Covington likely will take over for Flores as linebackers coach, while former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano reportedly is being hired as defensive coordinator. Oden, Studesville and Grizzard were retained from Adam Gase's 2018 Miami staff.
