Vet saves frozen pet cat in Montana

"We speculate that Fluffy had endured some kind of trauma that prevented her from getting to her safe place", Dutter said, noting the cat always has access to the house.

Yet, after about two hours, Fluffy's body temperature was still pretty low, so she was transferred to an emergency room.

Vets in the USA state of Montana managed to revive a cat found frozen in a snowbank.

Luckily, Fluffy survived after veterinarians at the clinic raised her body temperature using warm water, blow dryers, towels, and intravenous fluids. "They are pretty fantastic survivors, especially cats that are crabby, they have a tendency to want to live".

Andrea Dutter, the executive director at the Animal Clinic of Kalispell, told HuffPost that Fluffy's owners came home early from work on January 31 to discover their pet unresponsive in a snow bank with chunks of ice matted in her fur.

The Animal Clinic of Kalispell said Fluffy was brought in "essentially frozen and unresponsive". She was living outdoors when her new owners arrived in the Montana neighbourhood of Kalispell and adopted her, but they were left mortified when she was discovered curled up and torpid deep in a snow bank.

The clinic posted pictures of the cat's recovery on its Facebook page.

The clinic said there were some signs of injury and they suspected she could not get to her "warm spot".

She was so cold the staff struggled to get an IV in her right away.

Clark said Fluffy's owners plan to try to keep her inside for now.
