Marks and Spencers have revealed their "Love Sausage" - under most circumstances, that sentence would usually end with someone being arrested and added to some sort of register.

Describing the £5 feast as 'the ultimate meaty delight for Valentine's breakfast in bed, ' the retailer asked in a Twitter post: 'Are you ready for our Love Sausage?'

Have you ever been eating a sausage (oi oi) and thought, this is nice but I wish it were heart-shaped?

The delicious pork is lightly-truffled and wrapped in crispy bacon and we can't think of any better way to say it than with a sausage.

Social media users had a field day in response to the irreverent marketing.

'Love sausage? Have I slept through February and March and woken up on April Fool's Day?' one wrote.

Talking about the sausage, Product Developer Sarah Loxton, said: "We're encouraging customers to start the fun of Valentine's Day celebrations early with a Love Sausage for breakfast".

Honestly, we can't say we have but there's surely someone out there who appreciates meat products in the shape of symbols.

M&S may have pulled off of the most weird social media stunt of the season with its cheeky post asking "Are you ready for our Love Sausage?"
