UEFA is still waiting for more details on FIFA's ambitious plans for two new worldwide competitions, almost one year after they were first aired, the President of European soccer's ruling body said Thursday.

Ceferin also confirmed UEFA's plans to launch its own streaming platform in the next six months, a service he believes will "make football more accessible for fans, all fans across the planet".

"I am honoured", said Ceferin, thanking members of UEFA's 55 member associations for re-electing him, saying he was taking over with "fewer doubts and less scepticism than back then".

The 51-year-old Slovenian lawyer - who saw off the Dutchman Michael van Praag in 2016 - is the only candidate this time in the election for the UEFA president, which will take place at the organisation's Congress in Rome.

As UEFA president, Ceferin is also ensured of a vice-president post within world governing body Federation Internationale de Football Association. In addition, it sets the foundations and structure required to ensure, that together with UEFA, we meet the challenges the game faces to support its continued long-term growth.

"With VAR we prepared a meeting with all the coaches from Champions League teams in Frankfurt on Monday and only five came", Ceferin said.

Speaking after UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin aimed strong words at him, Infantino said "it's not always easy" for him to work so that "the rest of the world can catch up a little bit" to European soccer.

The Slovenian vowed to work alongside European Club Association leader Andrea Agnelli in order to protect the Champions League from a breakaway "Super League" of elite clubs.

"I don't know what competitions there will be in two years, four years, ten years but we didn't get any more information that we had in Bogota in March", Ceferin told reporters after UEFA's annual Congress.

"Not only because of the record (of PSG) in terms of Financial Fair Play, but also because (Al-Khelaifi) is president of beIN Sports, one of the main holders of television rights of UEFA", added the president of La Liga.
