Less than a week after Dapper Dan, Spike Lee and Soulja Boy criticized Gucci for its apparel that looked like blackface, shoes from Katy Perry's line are receiving backlash for the same reason.

In a search for the shoes - called "Rue Face Slip On Loafers" and "Ora Face Block Heel Sandal" - on the department store's website Monday afternoon, an image of them popped up for a split second before a message appeared informing the customer that the "product is not now available for purchase".

According to TMZ, in the latest incident, Katy Perry's shoe is about to be yanked from retailers like Dillard's and Walmart for what is being described as design features that closely resemble blackface. The problem is the black one is troublesome considering the long, racist history of blackface makeup.

While the styles are part of a larger collection and were never meant to be offensive, they are now being pulled "in order to be respectful and sensitive", a source told TMZ. The brand has since apologised and removed the item. Prada dropped a number of bag accessories last December after critics accused the brand of including minstrel figurines in their products.
