The Oklahoma City Thunder have released Alex Abrines. He was around the team while dealing with his personal matter, with the Thunder organization offering as much support as possible. ESPN's Royce Young reports that the move was mutual between Abrines and the Thunder so he can focus on his personal issue.

Abrines, 25, had played just 15 minutes since late December, often being listed as inactive due to unspecified personal reasons. "Honestly, we go day-by-day with him and continue to be supportive with him".

Drafted with the 23rd overall pick of the 2013 draft, Abrines made his National Basketball Association debut in 2016 after several seasons starring for F.C. Barcelona. "He's around the team, we always talk and communicate". The Spanish guard will become a free agent once he clears waivers.

The Thunder roster now stands at 12.

In three seasons with the Thunder, Abrines started 16 times in 174 games and averaged 5.3 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. By rule, they will need to add two players within the next two weeks.

Over three seasons with the Thunder, the Spaniard averaged 5.3 points and 1.4 rebounds per game while shooting 36.8 percent from 3-point territory.
