NASCAR Will Strip Victories in 2019 For Illegal Race Cars

The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series will feature a new three-race program known as the Triple Truck Challenge this summer

- NASCAR confirmed that its participation guidelines will be virtually unchanged from their look last season, with drivers boasting more than five years of full-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series experience limited to seven Xfinity Series races and five Truck races. We can not allow inspection and penalties to continue to be a prolonged storyline.

If one of those cars does fail inspection, the driver and team will receive last-place points while the rest of the finishing order would move up.

The rules changes scheduled for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series this season creating reduced engine power with boosted drag and downforce promise to make drafting much more important.

A $500,000 total bonus - in addition to the posted purses - for the team/driver who wins all three Triple Truck Challenge races. If the driver won the race, they could not use it to guarantee them a spot in the playoffs, but retained the win in the records, meaning the victory was "encumbered". Then, in the postseason, Kevin Harvick failed for an illegal spoiler following his win at Texas Motor Speedway. The current single-lap qualifying system does typically run quicker than the pre-2014 single-car system due to the single-lap limit and NASCAR officials sending the next qualifier on track as soon as possible once the previous qualifier has started a hot lap. "We're going to put it on the teams to bring their equipment right".

"We've been through a deterrence model where we've really worked with the race teams at the track and probably been more lenient than we should in terms of the number of times teams can go through inspection and pass, fail and there's nearly incentive to try to get something by NASCAR, so we want to really reverse that trend", O'Donnell said. The road courses will also keep the two-round, 25- and 10-minute rounds like in previous years.

The seventh-generation stock vehicle is on schedule to compete in 2021. NASCAR said it was near certain the new vehicle will have a composite body.

"Our industry understands the need to focus on what happens on the racetrack".

"It's neat in the sense that it's a little bit different", NASCAR Managing Director of Racing Operations and International Development and former Truck race victor Ben Kennedy said. Kennedy spent last season as managing director of the Truck Series.

To quicken qualifying, NASCAR has also revealed various adjustments for 2019, though the usual three-round elimination format will remain. If the same driver wins all three races, he or she pockets $500,000.

"This new program for the series illustrates that NASCAR is adding more excitement for the fans and providing promoters with additional storylines to add even more drama to our events", Gateway Motorsports Park Executive Vice President and General Manager Chris Blair said.
