Serial killer's drawings released in hope of identifying victims

Ector County Texas Sheriff's Office shows confessed serial killer Samuel Little.

Little also confessed to killing a 22-year-old black woman, possibly named "Linda", in Miami in 1971; a 28-year-old black woman who possibly worked at what was then-called Homestead Air Force Base in 1971 or 1972; a 23-to-24-year-old black woman, possibly named "Emily", who worked at the University of Miami, in the mid-1970s; a 45-year-old white woman, possibly named "Sarah", who was originally from MA, in Kendall in 1973; and a white woman killed in Homestead in 1970 or 1971.

He's since confessed to more than 90 murders between 1970 and 2005 but authorities have little evidence to prove his claims, prompting the Federal Bureau of Investigation to release his drawings.

So far investigators have managed to link Little to 36 of his claims, spanning the width of the USA, from LA to Washington DC.

The strategy worked - both were identified.

The FBI has added the sketches to an interactive web page that pinpoints the locations and describes the victims of the murders Little claims to have committed.

Little is now serving three consecutive life sentences for three murders committed in Los Angeles.

Most of his confirmed kills were identified to be drug addicts, prostitutes or transgender women - whom Little would strangle and often dump their bodies in dense wooded areas.

Samuel Little drew the portrait from memory almost two decades after he says he killed the woman in 1996 in Los Angeles. For instance, one teenage victim from Miami is sporting a blue headband while a victim from Texas has purple hair.

If all 90 confessions are confirmed, Little would be the most prolific known USA serial killer.

Little, also known as Samuel McDowell, was already in prison last spring when his name came up in the FBI's Violent Criminal Apprehension Program, known as ViCAP, in connection with a series of unsolved murders across the country.

Holland was trained in cold cases and visited Little, gaining his trust over time, Bland said.

"Over the course of that interview in May he went through city and state and gave Ranger Holland the number of people he killed in each place".

The FBI has now released portraits of the unknown victims, drawn by Little in his cell, in the hope of receiving more information about them. "Jackson, Mississippi-one; Cincinnati, Ohio-one; Phoenix, Arizona-three; Las Vegas, Nevada-one", Palazzolo said.

Samuel Little leaves the Ector County Courthouse in Odessa, Texas Thursday, December 13, 2018. Many others are still uncorroborated.

CNN has reached out to EJ Leach, the attorney representing Little in the Texas case, and has not yet received a response.

Little was arrested at a homeless shelter in Kentucky in 2012 and extradited to California to face drug charges.
