Google & Huawei could end up paying $400 to Nexus 6P users

Nexus 6P Users Who Faced Bootloop Battery Drain Issues May Now Receive Up to $400 From Google Huawei

Google and Huawei have settled the class action lawsuit, regarding the bootloop issues with the Nexus 6P. While there are fewer chances of those devices is still used, the two companies have preliminary agreed to settle on the suit. If the lawsuit gets court approval, the companies would be liable to a $9.75 million statement for the lawsuit that began in April 2017, which may result in payments of up to $400 for participating plaintiffs. Naturally, this turned into a class-action lawsuit against the two companies, alleging that both had breached warranty and therefore consumer rights. So unfortunately only USA buyers will be eligible for the possibility of getting a rebate.

However, the proposed settlement states that users who experienced the alleged bootloop and battery drain issues on multiple Nexus 6P units and submit documentation of the issues faced would receive up to $400.

Back in the year 2015-2016, some Nexus 6P users reportedly faced problems of never-ending boot-loops because of the faulty chipsets. The boot looping problem is fairly self-explanatory. This is when it reached a low-power state, which sometimes could be as high as 20 percent. In fact, Nexus 6P users have been reporting that their smartphones are going into a bootloop mode which renders the devices useless and neither Google nor Huawei wanted to take responsibility for that.

The settlement could be approved at the next court hearing on May 9th and Nexus 6P owners who purchased the device after September 25th, 2015.

With Huawei blaming Google's Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and the Search giant returning the favour, nothing was done to aid those affected by the bugs. Anyhow, if you bought a Nexus 6P with any of these issues, watch out for a mail or letter that Huawei or Google could send in order to claim the settlement amount. If you had just the battery-drain glitch, you're looking at a potential reimbursement of $150. Moreover, those who submit proper documentation for the bug will receive the large settlement amount, while those without any documentation may be eligible for up to $75.
