Troubles at Jet Airways mounted on Friday, prompting the Prime Minister's Office to hold an urgent meeting as the carrier's fleet dropped to a mere 11 and it chose to extend its cancellation of worldwide operations till Monday.

After the meeting, Kharola said the carrier had money to operate 6-7 planes over the weekend and that the lenders would have to decide how many jets it could fly after Monday afternoon, news channel ET Now reported on Friday. Then there are the disgruntled employees, many of whom have not received salaries since January.

"It has come to our notice that there is a critical meeting planned tomorrow (Monday) morning with the airline management and SBI. Accordingly, as requested, the Committee would like to inform all that the decision stands deferred for the time being", the Guild committee said in a late evening communication to its members. It also announced the resignation of one of its independent directors, Rajshree Pathy, from the company for other commitments. A consortium of bankers led by State Bank of India is managing the airline.

"Till date we are awaiting the funding and, meanwhile, our beloved airline is dying a slow death along with unpaid salaries of pilots and engineers for over 3 months", a member said. The SBI-led group of lenders had last month taken control of the airline and agreed to provide an immediate funding support of Rs 1,500 crore.

A meeting is underway between the airline management and the lenders, and a decision on the fund infusion is likely to take place today.

NAG requested all pilots to gather at Siroya Centre at 10 a.m. on April 15 in full uniform.

According to NAG, it has also called upon other departments to join the gathering at the headquarters as a show of unity. So we have chose to go ahead with our call of no-flying from April 15.

Jet has "suspended" all flights to South and Southeast Asian nations as well as services from Chennai to Paris and Toronto, it said in a statement.

"The airline has also cancelled its long-haul, west bound operations to/from Amsterdam, London Heathrow, and Paris until April 16 (Tuesday)", it added.

Jet has also stopped taking reservations for many worldwide flights, in some cases up to June 10.

Jet Airways confirmed stopping of bookings for these flights, saying the move is aimed at re-accommodating passengers due to interim cancellations.
