‘Star Wars’: Rian Johnson & ‘Game of Thrones’ Writers Working Together on the Next Decade of Films

Despite the announced hiatus, we knew for a fact that there are at least two more Star Wars trilogies now in development, one by The Last Jedi director, Rian Johnson and the other by Game of Thrones showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

Disney CEO Bob Iger recently confirmed that Star Wars films will be going on hiatus for a few years, after Episode IX graces the big screen this December. The last game in the series to release was Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Additional episodic directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok). Admitting her view on why EA changed its stance on single-player only games is speculation, she said "I don't know why the change of heart happened, because that was very clearly not an acceptable plan when we were working on Ragtag!".

The villain titled the "Second Sister" from the trailer looks a lot like Kylo Ren and Darth Vader, and we're hoping they too will be a hateable yet complex character with clear motivations who we will at one point get to fight. "They're working very closely with Rian".

"As they finish Game of Thrones, they're going to segue into Star Wars", Kennedy said.

Johnson helmed The Last Jedi, in 2017, and he was quickly signed to develop a new trilogy. The Galaxy AwaitsAncient forests, windswept rock faces, and haunted jungles are all unique biomes you'll explore in Jedi: Fallen Order, with the freedom to decide when and where you go next.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Hennig opens up about the Star Wars project she joined Visceral to create-codenamed "Ragtag"- and how it was inspired by the original Star Wars films. The time period would also receive its own MMO in Star Wars: The Old Republic. There aren't many other details-and we'll update this guide when more info is revealed-but it's selling for $83.

According to its Microsoft store page, it'll also have "cinematically-charged" lightsaber combat (I'm honestly not sure what that means) which "delivers the fantasy of becoming a Jedi through its innovative lightsaber combat system - striking, parrying, dodging". "That's the Star Wars DNA, right?" Do you think this is a good strategy to map out the saga instead of ruing what appears to be a patched together trilogy?
