Bettor Won More Than $1 Million Thanks To Tiger Woods’ Masters Win

Patrick Reed, left, eventually shakes hands with Masters victor Tiger Woods at Augusta National.

Adducci said he traveled to Las Vegas on Tuesday specifically to place the bet without even knowing the odds he would get at the sportsbooks because operators are not allowed to give information over the phone. The company also reportedly put Tiger's odds at 100-1 at one point with a $10 limit on bets as a promotion to draw in more action.

Tiger Woods celebrates after sinking his putt on the 18th green to win during the final round of the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club on Sunday. Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Xander Schauffele all received $858,667 for finishing right behind Woods in the standings. The first three all came when the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII previous year.

"It's great to see Tiger back", said Nick Bogdanovich, William Hill's U.S. Director of Trading, per CBS Sports.

James Adducci was presented with a check for more than $1.2 million Monday at a sportsbook in Las Vegas. "It's a painful day for William Hill - our biggest golf loss ever - but a great day for golf". It cost the book $120,000.

In New Jersey, BetStars reported losing $360,000, which was the biggest loss they took on a single sporting event since they started serving the New Jersey market a year ago. BetOnline told ESPN that they also took their biggest loss on a futures bet.

Combined with an encore presentation, the final round combined for a 11.1 rating, which would be the best for the final round of The Masters since 2010, when Phil Mickelson won and Woods finished tied for fourth as he returned from a scandal that began with him driving into a fire hydrant.

Woods, who was robbed of a majority of his twilight years due to personal and physical issues, had not won a major golf tournament since the U.S. Open in 2008.
