Why Android developers at Google I/O are excited about Flutter Tyler McCraw, Android developer for Extend Enterprises, is one of multiple developers at the I/O conference who said Flutter could solve one of their biggest challenges: Staying in sync with iOS developers. However, for developers that do not have a track record, Google promises to spend more time to review their new apps in order to do thorough checks before approving apps that go live in the Play Store.

Android is one of the most widely used pieces of software, with over two billion devices running the Google mobile OS each and every month.

There's a chance that this change might not be exclusive to Android Q, but instead a wider rework to how Google wishes to disseminate its updates in the future. Google's review process has historically been faster than Apple's for iOS apps in the App Store.

Google will attempt to make life less painful for Android developers after last year's crackdown on SMS and Call Log permissions.

The rules only allow apps chosen as a device's default for making calls or sending text messages to access call logs and SMS data.

The most recent Android Q beta update for the Google Pixel is thus available from the Google Play Store, just like a typical app update, as per this reddit discussion. Nonetheless, Google will improve communication to be more personalized.

Even though Tasker's situation was somewhat unique, Google noticed three common themes with developers' complaints.

More detailed communication. We are revising the emails we send for policy rejections and appeals to better explain with more details, including why a decision was made, how you can modify your app to comply, and how to appeal. We will also be reviewing and improving our appeals process. Each appeal will be "carefully reviewed by a person on our team", according to Google. If you are a new developer, expect delays in getting your app approval from Google. Openness in such scenarios is not a possibility, as that opens up the possibility of these developers gaming the system and finding loopholes to exploit.
