Bill Nye Joins John Oliver For Blistering Takedown of Green New Deal Critics: ‘The Planet’s on F*cking Fire’

The Science Guy proceeded to state that, by century's end, the average temperature on earth could rise by four to eight degrees.

"There are a lot of things we could do to put it out", he said. No, of course not. Nothing's free, you idiots.

Nye's comments came during a segment about climate change and the highly-debated Green New Deal supported by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and other legislators.

Nye remarks come after the Senate voted down the Green New Deal package by a vote of 57-0.

"The first thing to understand is that the Green New Deal doesn't even mention the word "cows" or 'airplanes, '" or even "specific programs to fight climate change", Oliver explained. Look out, because while you might not typically associate angry talk with the normally-mild-mannered "Science Guy" Nye, when it comes to the threat of global climate change, he has - understandably, perhaps - lost his patience. You may see the full segment as it played out with John Oliver and Bill Nye in the video player below. "You're not children anymore!"

Nye, continuing his tirade, added to the late night host's sentiments, saying, "Putting a fee on carbon creates incentives to emit less carbon, and, more importantly, it also incentivizes the development of low-carbon technology, which is huge, because that's vital to reducing emissions globally". I didn't mind explaining photosynthesis to when you were 12, but you're adults now, and this is an actual crisis! But you don't have to just take that from me; instead, I'm happy to say that Bill Nye has actually agreed to help drive the urgency home at this point by actually doing one of his enjoyable lighthearted demonstrations. And because for some reason, John, you're a 42-year-old man who needs his attention sustained by tricks, here's some f-ing Mentos and a bottle of Diet Coke. "Got it?!" Removing his glasses, he snapped, "Safety glasses off, motherf*****s!"

Nye made a vain attempt to blow out the burning globe, then walked offscreen. Nye stated, "Here, I've got an experiment for you".
