Firefighters rescue two people dangling from Oklahoma City skyscraper

Two people, believed to be window cleaners, have been rescued from a lift near the top of an approximately 850-foot skyscraper in Oklahoma City.

David Macy says the two were stranded shortly before 7:45 a.m. Wednesday outside the 50-floor Devon Tower and were pulled to safety about 8:30 a.m.

Video from the scene showed the basket making extreme movements through the air, being picked up and moved around by heavy gusts of wind.

The lift was swinging and struck parts of the building, breaking glass.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area as roads may be shut down. One of the workers has a possible head injury, according to reports.

A tweet from fire Battalion Chief Benny Fulkerson states: "Dangerous situation at Devon Tower".

It isn't clear if the window washers are injured, but firefighters have reportedly managed to stabilize the scaffold and are about to launch a rescue attempt.
