FSU softball named number four national seed in NCAA Tournament

They will host the Baton Rouge Regional this weekend with Monmouth (36-16), Texas Tech (39-14) and Louisiana Tech (44-14) May 17-19 at Tiger Park.

This will be Oklahoma's ninth consecutive year as a regional host site, and the 13th consecutive year that the Sooners have earned one of the 16 national seeds.

For the second time in program history, the Ole Miss Softball Complex will play host to an NCAA Regional, with the Rebels being selected as the No. 11 overall seed in the 2019 NCAA Softball Championship on Sunday. Those two teams will meet in the opening game on Friday night. If the Gophers lose, they will still have a chance to advance as the tournament is double-elimination.

Minnesota finished the season No. 8 in the RPI rankings, and with the toughest schedule in the country.

Making their ninth appearance in the NCAA tourney, the Hokies (45-9, 20-4 ACC) will play from Friday-Sunday, along with Toledo (29-26, 10-9 MAC) and IL (32-23, 9-14 B1G). Also competing in the Lexington Regional is Toledo, Illinois and Virginia Tech.

"It's a great place to play softball", said Auburn head coach Mickey Dean.

State is making its 15th NCAA Tournament appearances in its 23rd season as a member of the Southeastern Conference and holds a 14-28 overall record in the postseason. The Gophers last played North Dakota State on May 1, 2018 at home, defeating the Bison 6-1. State fell to tournament host No. 10 Arizona by a 4-3 final.
