A palace rep confirmed to PEOPLE that the private gathering took place today, with William and Kate paying a visit to new parents Meghan Markle and Prince Harry at their Frogmore Cottage home. The reason for this, though, isn't as shady as the tabloids and Internet would have you think.

The duke and duchess's visit to Windsor comes just after Kate stepped out to Bletchley Park to meet budding codebreakers on Tuesday. "They wanted that personal space with their newborn".

While in the city, Prince Harry is also due to visit OXSRAD Disability Sports and Leisure Centre and Barton Neighbourhood Centre.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have met their new nephew Archie for the first time. There's nothing to see here, truly. The rest of Archie isn't included in the shot, but he is wrapped in what appears to be the same white blanket by G.H. Hurt & Son from the photo shoot last Wednesday when Baby Sussex was introduced to the world. "We're absolutely thrilled", the Duke of Cambridge told reporters.

"We couldn't be more delighted at the news, and we're looking forward to meeting the baby when we return", he said.

Prince William joked last week that he welcomed his brother into the "sleep deprivation society" that is parenting.

William and Kate dropped in during the afternoon but chose to leave their own children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, at home.

"He said he's getting used to the baby and how Archie has fitted into family life", she said. "Spring's in the air and everything, so it's pretty great".

"They might very well post a surprise photo of Archie on Instagram but also they may not", he explained.

Princess Diana's biographer Andrew Morton suggests Thomas Markle is trying to heal the rift with his estranged daughter Meghan.

"We honor and celebrate each and every one of you", the post said.
