Vodafone 5G to go live in the UK in July

Vodafone says its 5G service will roll out starting 3 July 2019, and it has named seven cities ready for the turn-on.

Along with a better connection, there's more good news as Vodafone says it will price 5G the same as 4G.

Those cities are: Glasgow, London, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Cardiff and Bristol.

To take advantage of the faster network speeds being promised by Vodafone, you'll need to ensure you have a 5G phone.

Vodafone customers will see a huge increase in speeds this summer with the network confirming a date for its switch on of 5G.

Vodafone adds that Birkenhead, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Guildford, Newbury, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Reading, Southampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Warrington and Wolverhampton will follow later this year.

A choice of 5G smartphones will be available to buy online or in Vodafone stores over the summer, while the first smartphone goes on sale next week.

Vodafone has set its United Kingdom 5G network launch for July 3, and it revealed that the new price plans will be announced next week, the operator added that prices for its 5G plans will be the same as their 4G equivalents. Vodafone didn't just talk about its UK 5G plans today; if you are travelling to other countries the telco's established networks in UK, Germany, Italy and Spain will provide 5G roaming from this summer too.

"The new price plans will be unveiled next week to coincide with the availability of the first handset".

Vodafone reminds us of the improved performance we should get from 5G.

Vodafone claims its 5G will offer data speeds up to 10 times faster than 4G.

The above products can initially be used with 4G services, and be ready for 5G once launched in your area.

Not on Vodafone? You could still get a 5G upgrade soon, as EE, Three and O2 all plan to launch 5G services at some point this year as well, though as with Vodafone they'll initially be limited to a handful of cities.
