Tim Hortons officially testing Beyond Meat breakfast items across Canada

At its first-ever investor day on Wednesday, Cil revealed a goal for Restaurant Brands to hit the 40,000 restaurant mark in eight to 10 years.

RBI owns three of the world's most prominent and iconic quick service restaurant brands - TIM HORTONS, BURGER KING, and POPEYES.

"More so than worrying about competition, I worry about how we make the products that we now have on the shelf obsolete by improving them", Brown said in early May.

Burger King is opening around 100 restaurants per year in Russian Federation, the company said.

Tim Hortons is adding Beyond Meat to its menu. The company opened its first shop in China in February and has since opened three more along with its master franchisee partner.

As of today, Tim Hortons is officially testing out Beyond Meat breakfast items in select stores across Canada.

"With roughly 4,000 locations in Canada, we're looking forward to being able to offer Canadians from coast-to-coast a truly accessible meat alternative that they can feel good about", Tim Hortons President Alex Macedo said in a statement.

The group said it was well-placed to capitalise of a growing fast-food market, with the five-year outlook for growth in the global burger market expected to be 5 per cent annually and growth in the global coffee and chicken markets expected to be 6 per cent annually.

Last week, Recipe Unlimited Corp. announced it would launch a plant-based burger from Beyond Meat competitor Lightlife Foods in June.

"We're excited to team up with Tim Hortons to bring the health and environmental benefits of our plant-based Beyond Breakfast Sausage patty to more consumers", says Ethan Brown, founder and CEO of Beyond Meat in the release. The Lightlife burger will be available at 70 Kelsey's Original Roadhouse locations starting June 3.
