HTC has two (mediocre) new phones, proving it's not dead just yet

Most people thought that HTC had silently departed the smartphone game, beyond its attempts to launch a blockchain phone in the HTC Exodus, but it seems most people were wrong, as the company has just launched two new smartphones. Today, they announced the HTC U19e, a mid-range phone with decent specs that likely won't show up on U.S. soil any time soon.

Among other specifications, the HTC U19e comes with 128GB of onboard storage with microSD card slot, rear fingerprint sensor, and 3,930mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging support. It looks like a solid phone on paper. Regarding the selfie snappers that sit up front, there's a 20-megapixel camera accompanied by a 2-megapixel sensor that allows for Iris Recognition Unlock.

Moving to the camera arena, the HTC U19e offers a 12MP+20MP 2x telephoto dual rear camera pairing, as well as a 24MP and 2MP selfie pairing with face unlock. Connectivity options include Dual SIM, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou. The phone sports a 6.2-inch HD+ (720x1520 pixel) screen with 19:9 aspect ratio. The device comes in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage respectively. While there is no 3.5mm audio jack, the device comes with HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi dual speakers with stereo surround sound effect. The triple camera setup on the rear features a 13MP primary sensor along with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 5MP depth sensor.

On its part, HTC Desire 19+ packs a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a water-drop notch.

HTC U19e and Desire 19+ price and release date The HTC U19e will be available to purchase on June 12th in both Modest Green and Extraordinary Purple.

HTC's latest mid-range device is equipped with MediaTek's Helio P35 which is slightly more powerful than Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630.
