At least 100 undigested boba pearls found in girl's stomach

A doctor in China thinks an excessive amount of bubble tea pearls caused the girl's stomach issues

Most things are better in moderation - and that apparently includes bubble tea.

At least one person is probably switching sides right about now: A teen girl in China is receiving treatment after her doctor discovered 100 boba tea pearls in her stomach, Asia One reported. Chewy tapioca balls are often added to the cold, milky drink.

He also warns that as the pearls are made of starch they are very hard for the body to digest, and prescribed the girl laxatives to help remove the pearls from her body.

Puzzled, doctors conducted a CT scan which showed up more than 100 spherical shadows dotted throughout her digestive tract.

The unlikely culprit? Too much bubble tea. But eventually, she allegedly admitted she drank one cup of the tea before she was hospitalized.

The teen reportedly told doctors that she drank only one cup of bubble tea five days before the hospital visit, Newsweek reported. She claimed she'd had just one before checking in to the hospital, but doctors said it had to have taken much more to end up in her state, the paper reported.

Doctor Zhang said: "She must be hiding the true number of pearl milk tea she had".
