Marvel's Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco - including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source.

The online reaction to the game has been strong, with a bunch of different reasons for the designs of the Avengers themselves being so reviled - the main one being that they look too similar to their MCU counterparts. "There are now no plans to change our character designs".

IGN spoke with Crystal Dynamics lead creative director Shaun Escayg about the negative response from the community and he was adamant that the designs would not be changed.

The debut of Marvel's Avengers at this year's E3 was met with a fair amount of criticism, in no small part due to the character designs of our heroes.

Marvel's Avengers is described as an epic action-adventure game that combines cinematic storytelling with single-player and co-operative gameplay.

While the character designs are not going to change for the Avengers game, Escayg reminded fans that the footage shown so far is from a very early, pre-alpha version of the title.

"The level of detail and overall polish of the character models will absolutely continue to improve as we get closer to launch", he said.
