Magnitude 4.3 natural disaster strikes off northern coast of Haida Gwaii

A 6.2-magnitude quake hit the Haida Gwaii archipelago off the West Coast on Wednesday.

A 5.8 magnitude quake was recorded in the Pacific Ocean off of northern Vancouver Island on Wednesday night.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the natural disaster hit around 9:30 p.m. local time.

The US Geological Survey measured the magnitude-6.2 natural disaster less than 200 kilometres from the northwest tip of Vancouver Island. The depth of the quake was shallow at 5 km.

A 6.2-magnitude natural disaster hit the Haida Gwaii archipelago off the West Coast on Wednesday evening.

There was no tsunami warning issued and officials are reporting no threat of landslides.
