Everton Set to Rival Liverpool in Race to Sign £59m-Rated Lille Forward Nicolas Pepe

Everton have been linked with a move for coveted Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.

Lille president Gerard Lopez previously revealed that the Ligue 1 outfit had received two bids from unnamed clubs prior to his involvement at AFCON - also claiming that Liverpool have been in contact with the player himself.

As a result, the Ivorian forward looks set for a big-money move this summer and, according to The Telegraph, Everton are the latest club to express an interest in the 24-year-old.

Any prospective deal for Pepe will be put on hold while he remains on worldwide duty with Ivory Coast, who are set to compete in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations later this week.

Talks over a potential move to Goodison Park are likely to have to wait until the conclusion of the African Cup of Nations, where Pepe is in the Ivory Coast squad which will play Algeria in the quarter-finals on July 11.

Wamangituka has attracted interest from potential suitors within France and overseas, following his impressive season with Paris FC in Ligue 2. He was the league's second highest goalscorer with 22 goals, behind Kylian Mbappe, as Lille finished runners-up to Paris Saint-Germain.
