Report Fugitive hiding from cops captured after passing gas loud enough to alert police officers

The incident caused great amusement for the Clay County Sheriff's Office's Facebook followers.

His fart was so loud that officers were able to find where he was hiding and he was taken into custody.

The city also thanked the sheriff's department for "airing out a wanted person's dirty laundry and fanning the flames".

"We've gotta give props to @LibertyMissouri Police for using their senses to sniff him out!" the department said in a follow-up post on Twitter.

Twitter users also praised the police for locating the man.

Liberty, Missouri is northeast of Kansas City.

A second wrote: "Your Department deserves an award for Post of the year and everyone involved in this incident deserves hazard pay, especially that poor Dog".

The freakish story was published on the force's Facebook page.

One Facebook user commented: "I just feel bad for the K9 officer, I mean he could smell that better and further away than the human officer could hear it even!" "It took my 20 minutes to tell my husband what was so amusing and now he can't stop laughing".

"Happy you guy's are on your toes".

A Missouri man is behind bars after a failed attempt at hiding from the police.

The person farted. So loud, in fact, that it led officers right to him, police say.
