MS Dhoni came in at number six in the batting order

There were speculations that Dhoni might bid adieu to the worldwide cricket after the conclusion of India's campaign at this year's edition of the marquee event.

In the first semi-final match of the ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup India lost to New Zealand by 18 runs. However, after India's loss to New Zealand yesterday, the picture flawless farewell seemed to fade. However, amid all this, Dhoni has not revealed anything about his future.

The former Indian skipper faces a rather unforeseen request from yet another old familiar face, and this time it is not Charulata Das but much acclaimed play back singer, Lata Mangeshker who urged Dhoni not to quit worldwide cricket.

Speculations about Dhoni's retirement have been going around for quite some time.

"Aaj kal main sun rahi hun ke Aap retire hona chahte hain (I have been hearing that you are planning to retire)", the legendary singer said in a tweet addressed to Dhoni who led India to the 2011 World Cup triumph. "Kal bhalehi hum jeet na paaye ho lekin hum haare nahi hain.Gulzar sahab ka cricket ke liye likha hua ye geet main hamari team ko dedicate karti hun".

"Kripaya aap aisa mat sochiye".

The wicketkeeper-batsman played a crucial role in the Indian chase, as Ravindra Jadeja took on the New Zealand bowlers and smashed an awesome 77, adding 116 runs with Dhoni.

Dhoni scored 50 in the match against New Zealand and kept his team in the hunt in the run chase but he was dismissed in an unlucky fashion via direct hit from Martin Guptill.
