Noah Syndergaard Rumors: Astros, Brewers Are After Mets Ace

Will the New York Mets trade pitcher Noah Syndergaard

Will the New York Mets trade pitcher Noah Syndergaard

Syndergaard, 6-4 this season with a 4.68 ERA in 17 starts, is under team control through the 2021 season and is earning only $6 million this season. Morosi reports that the Brewers, Astros and Padres all have inquired to the Mets - who reportedly are not soliciting offers - on the availability of Syndergaard.

The Padres are among several teams looking at Mets righty Noah Syndergaard.

The Milwaukee Brewers are another team that is monitoring Syndergaard and fellow Mets starter Zack Wheeler. The Padres have been looking for a veteran starter since last offseason, when they had interest in Syndergaard, Corey Kluber and Marcus Stroman, among others. As of right now, the Padres have not been willing to give him up, but for Syndergaard would they do it?

Last week, MLB Network linked Wheeler to American League East rivals.

The Mets have been hesitant to move publicly into seller mode, but at 40-50, they're not close to playoff contention.

In his first year as general manager, Brodie Van Wagenen (Syndergaard's ex-agent while with CAA Sports) took bold moves while trying to return the organization to relevance. The decision now is whether or not Van Wagenen will walk back on his win-now mentality at the trade deadline.

According to Morosi, the Mets are under a great deal of pressure to come out on the winning end of any trade after the way their Robinson Cano-Edwin Diaz deal has worked out. The cost for the right-hander would have to be high for the Mets to consider trading him.
