McLaren has confirmed that it will continue with an unchanged driver line-up for the 2020 F1 season, with rookie Lando Norris' contract being extended after an impressive run in the 2019 season so far.

Spaniard Sainz had already signed a two-year deal with the British team, but it's now been confirmed that Norris will stay next year as well.

"I think a lot of teams are sniffing around.and given how Carlos and Lando are doing it was in our best interests to make sure as the silly season ramps up that they should go knocking on some other doors".

Here is what McLaren CEO Zak Brown had to say about this confirmation, according to ESPN.

"Today's announcement provides the team with the continuity to keep pushing forward", said Andreas Seidl.

"Lando has got up to speed with the demands of Formula 1 incredibly quickly and is growing in confidence every weekend". "Both Carlos and Lando are proving themselves as racers and are integral to our path to recovery".

"We want to develop together.and at the same time hopefully we can make the same progress on the team side as well, giving them the right machine".

"They have made a real contribution to the positive momentum and morale within the team, both at the track and back at the factory".

Competing in nine Grand Prixs, the teenager has made an impressive start to his Formula 1 career and now sits in eighth place in the drivers' championship table. He recorded a career-high finish of ninth place in the driver standings in the 2017 season.

The Woking-based outfit is enjoying its best start to a campaign since 2014 as it sits fourth in the constructors' championship after nine rounds, 20 points clear of fifth-placed Renault.

The more experienced Sainz had a hard start to the season as the Spaniard finished outside the points in the first three races, but has bounced back to register in five of his last six outings.
