No Man's Sky Creator Explains Why Anthem and Fallout 76 Developers Should Stay Silent

According to Murray, the media silence lasted about two years, and the team didn't talk to the game's community at all for about three months of that period.

Murray also said talking to games media in the time before No Man's Sky's launch gave him a skewed perception of how his words would be interpreted.

Anthem, Fallout 76, Sea of Thieves Murray then turned the focus to companies like EA, Microsoft, and Bethesda, as they all had similar launch troubles with Anthem, Sea of Thieves, and Fallout 76, respectively. That was really hard.

The founder of Hello Games Sean Murray has said that a significant portion of those criticising No Man's Sky actually haven't played the game. At least with the classification being pushed through, we can expect to see Beyond launch in the coming weeks. "You see this all the time when a big publisher will talk to the community and try to solve the problem and then get embroiled, taking up more and more of its head space". I sat down so many times and wrote the ideal blog post that was going to explain everything about the game's development, and the road map going ahead. You get to this point where you're actually reading something from someone who has played the game a lot so know it quite well - and this is nearly your second most important group once you get rid of the noise - there are people out there saying something simple like: "I don't like your inventory system" and once you get to that point, as a developer and think: "I can fix that. It's amazingly big, but too often poorly designed".

The father of No Man's Sky reports his experience related to the game: after the fierce criticism received in the hours following the launch, he wanted to publish a long post to clarify the situation, in particular when the climate around the project was really negative, so much so having received several death threats.

Hello Games also announced No Man's Sky Beyond, which will bring with it No Man's Sky Online and the ability to play the entire game in VR.

Have a tip for us? Anthem's taken a beating this year, but whenever BioWare shares its plans or discusses the issues, there's a wave of goodwill from players who want to know where the game is going.

The new update promises once again to reinvigorate the game - this time by introducing No Man's Sky Beyond, and adding VR to the game.
