Hulu Quietly Adds 4K Streaming

Hulu confirmed the return of 4K streaming via its Support channel on Twitter.

Hulu supported 4K streaming at one point in the past, but that feature was removed a year ago.

Hulu is currently behind rivals such as Netflix and iTunes when it comes to support for 4K content, but the service has now switched on 4K streaming again - for some shows and some devices.

It's worth noting that Hulu's 4K Ultra HD option has a minimum bitrate of 16 Mbps, so if your internet provider has a data cap, you might want to be careful about how much 4K content you stream. "We hope this helps!"

Hulu says on its support site that it has plans to expand 4K support to other shows in the future, but for now, it's only available for Hulu's roster of shows. Hulu also says that the library of content now available to stream in 4K is limited, but includes all Hulu Originals, such as The Handmaid's Tale, Difficult People, Runaways, PEN15, and the upcoming Veronica Mars.

That's good news for fans of The Handmaid's Tale, I guess.

You're also going to need the right device to take advantage of the content Hulu is now offering in 4K.

As Engadget highlights, Hulu has also added a Live Guide for its live TV service, allowing users to view available programming up to two weeks in advance.
