Microsoft says an Android version of the closed beta will follow the iOS release, though it's not providing an exact date or timeframe yet.

Microsoft has revealed that the closed beta for its upcoming mobile AR game Minecraft Earth is set to go live in the next two weeks, alongside a video that gives us a very clear picture of how it plays.

Basically you're presented with an overworld map that looks strikingly similar to Pokemon Go, complete with a Minecraft-style block avatar complete with skins. Minecraft Earth allows you to craft handsome Minecraft creations in your phone, and harness the power of augmented reality to bring them to life.

In addition to all of this, Minecraft.net has more details on the Closed Beta. On that map you'll find "tappables", objects you can tap that can earn you creatures-called "mobs" in Minecraft parlance-or different kinds of blocks and objects.

So far, all we've seen of Minecraft Earth is the admittedly impressive augmented reality and "people occlusion", where players build structures in real life which they can then walk around and into. Through your phone screen, you're able to mine resources, and build and create alongside others in a shared world. Of course, since this is a closed beta, a limited number of participants will be accepted, which will allow Microsoft to calibrate its servers for the official launch.
