Breakfast star Steph McGovern has confirmed she is expecting her first baby with her girlfriend.

The 37-year-old denied she was pregnant last year, when she tweeted: "For those who are congratulating me on my "pregnancy".

The tweet had McGovern's followers laughing at her self-deprecating humour, and the presenter referenced the tweet today (14 July), when she confirmed the Sun's reports: "I see my news is out!"

Happy times: BBC Breakfast presenter Steph McGovern, 37, and her girlfriend are reportedly expecting their first child.

A source close to Steph told the publication: 'Steph and her girlfriend are absolutely thrilled.

"But she won't be doing any magazine shoots any time soon - she values her privacy too much".

The BBC star is said to have suffered from bad morning sickness before anybody knew of her news.

This comes just one year after viewers mistakenly thought she was expecting a child during a live show in January 2018.

McGovern has previously addressed people assuming she was pregnant was just part of "life on camera", saying: "I'd definitely be in the wrong job if I got offended by comments like that".

The Breakfast presenter and leading financial journalist took to Twitter at the time to squash the rumours.

The BBC broadcaster has joked that her baby bump is not in fact a "pot belly".

'I just made a decision to tweet a reply about it because I'd had a run of a few celebratory tweets and I wanted to clarify I wasn't and get in there before my boss started arranging my maternity cover!' Although, I'm thinking about naming mine now after all the attention it's getting'.

Delighted: A source told The Sun: "Steph and her girlfriend are absolutely thrilled".

Steph is now filming brand new series, Easy Ways To Live Well, alongside Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, which looks at all manner of ways to stay healthy, including during pregnancy.
