Ten Sovereigns and Ryan Moore on their way to victory in the Darley July Cup Stakes

Glorious Journey has twice captured G3 races in France.

Ten Sovereigns landed a gamble as he registered a stylish success in the Darley July Cup at Newmarket.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt, backed in to 9-2 from an early morning 10-1, made all in the six-furlong race under Ryan Moore to beat 3-1 favourite Advertise two and three-quarter lengths with his stablemate Fairyland a further half a length back in third.

With Godolphin's Blue Point, victor of the King's Stand and Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, now retired, the stage is set for Ten Sovereigns to potentially dominate the major six-furlong races for the rest of the season.

Glorious Journey, with James Doyle in the saddle and emerging from stall two, features in a field of 12 for the Darley July Cup that is headed by Dream Of Dreams, G1 Commonwealth Cup victor Advertise, Wokingham Handicap scorer Cape Byron and Limato.

His trainer Charlie Appleby said: "Glorious Journey has produced two solid runs on his most recent starts". Runners who are in the top three in the betting should be carefully considered as nine of the last 12 renewals have been won by fancied horses with five favourites obliging.

"We know that Glorious Journey has bit to find with some of the leading contenders, but he won't look out of place and I think he will run another good race". The seven-furlong race at Longchamp's Arc meeting is his target.

Look for horses who ran at Royal Ascot as 15 of the last 20 winners fit this profile.

Coral spokesman, David Stevens, told Gambling.com: "There's no doubt at all that we expect to see a significant amount of multiples on Frankie's Saturday rides, given the strong looking book of mounts he has to look forward to".

The Saeed Bin Suroor-trained five-year-old gained three impressive Pattern wins over nine furlongs on turf at Meydan, UAE, during this year's Dubai World Cup Carnival, culminating with victory in the G1 Jebel Hatta Sponsored by Emirates Airline on Super Saturday. At Ascot, Ten Sovereigns was probably a little more laid back than we expected, but we didn't go through the stages too quickly after the Guineas.

Dettori had the layers running for cover on the Thursday of Royal Ascot, racking up a quick-fire four timer, sending shockwaves through the industry, which resulted in Coral deciding that drastic action was required to protect themselves from such major liabilities going forward.

The race's biggest disappointment was Sir Michael Stoute's Dream of Dreams.
