Following his July 29 arrest on charges of being drunk on an aircraft and allegedly assaulting a female passenger while she slept, Thorbjorn Olesen has been suspended by the European Tour pending further investigation into the matter.

"He is due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 21 August".

Olesen was arrested at Heathrow Airport in London last Monday after flying home from the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational in Memphis, Tennessee.

The European Tour said Tuesday in a statement the Danish golfer has been suspended pending the outcome of his case.

He was riding in first class.

Police arrested him when the plane landed at Heathrow and subsequently released him under investigation.

"Jacob Thorbjorn Olesen, 29, of Redcliffe Road, Kensington and Chelsea, was charged by postal requisition on Thursday, 1 August with sexual assault, being drunk on an aircraft and common assault".

The five-time European Tour victor was busted by Metropolitan Police on suspicion of sexual assault after fellow European tour pro Ian Poulter, who was also on the flight, tried to calm Olesen down when he got verbally abusive with other passengers and flight crew, The Sun reported.

The five-time victor on the European Tour was travelling with Ian Poulter who reportedly tried to diffuse the situation on the British Airways flight. He has eight top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour. Olesen is now the No. 64-ranked golfer in the Official World Golf Rankings.
