Report Tom Brady puts Brookline Mass. home up for sale

The New England Patriots quarterback and his supermodel wife, Gisele Bundchen, are selling their massive Brookline, Mass., mansion for an initial list price of $39.5 million, as first reported by our own Tom E. Curran and Phil Perry.

If Brady does leave the northeast, it's possible he won't go far: The New York Post reported he and his wife were house-hunting in New York suburbs and looking into city schools.

Brady, who turned 42 on Saturday, has signed a two-year, US$70 million (NZ$107m) extension that runs through 2021 and includes a hefty raise this season, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press. The Patriots have agreed not to use the franchise tag on Brady, according to a source.

In addition, Brady also recently hired the high-profile WME talent agency to handle his non-football projects.

This means Brady and the Patriots will have to revisit negotiations before the end of the 2019 league year to extend the contract, and it is expected they will do so.

Update: Brady's mansion was briefly listed for sale on Zillow early Tuesday morning, but has since been switched to "off the market".
