Ex-Yankee Alex Rodriguez had an estimated half-million dollars worth of jewelry and electronics robbed from his rental auto in San Francisco while he was broadcasting a "Sunday Night Baseball" game between the Giants and Philadelphia Phillies this weekend, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

On July 28, Jennifer Lopez and Rodriguez's daughters interrupted ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball to wish him a happy 44th birthday.

"It's an unfortunate situation". "We're working with local authorities to address it".

Rodriguez and several of his colleagues were getting dinner after the game when the thief struck, an ESPN official said Monday.

Rodriguez left his vehicle three blocks from Oracle Park, according to the Chronicle.

"I am encouraged that local law enforcement has security footage of the crime and are doing all they can to get the items back", Rodriguez said. A thief stole a camera, a laptop, miscellaneous jewelry and a bag, with the missing loot estimated at roughly $500,000. The 14-time all-star helped the New York Yankees win the World Series in 2009.

Rodriquez was in San Francisco for ESPN's broadcast of Sunday Night Baseball at Oracle Park.

The case is now a high priority investigation according to The Chronicle, and takes place during a time when auto break ins are an epidemic throughout San Francisco.

A week later, he was filing a police report after broadcasting a Giants-Phillies contest.
