Two Officers and Suspect Hurt During Riverside Gun Fight

One officer died and two other officers were injured after being shot Monday following a traffic stop in Riverside, California.

A total of three officers were shot.

The condition of the other two officers is unknown at this time. "Our officer was struck during this gun battle".

Initial reports from local news media at the scene say that a CHP officer on a motorcycle made a routine traffic stop, and the suspect grabbed a rifle from the vehicle and started shooting.

The officer broadcast a call for help and the CHP and officers from multiple other agencies rushed to the scene, Parker said. The other officer suffered only minor injuries.

At least two CHP vehicles had visible gunshot damage in the rear windshields at the scene.

Several motorists were hit with flying glass shards from bullets hitting their auto windows, officials said, and were treated by paramedics at the scene.

According to Riverside Police, the shooting happened just before 6 p.m. on the 215 freeway near Box Springs Boulevard and Eastridge Avenue.

Moye is survived by his wife, parents, and siblings, the release said.

The suspect was transported to a hospital where they were pronounced dead, Railsback said.The identity of the suspect has not yet been released.Railsback says one of the officers was airlifted to a hospital by a local sheriff's department helicopter.
